SANDCASTLE WATERPARK CONTINUES TO MAKE A SPLASH AT THE AWARDS!
It’s Official - Sandcastle Waterpark is now heralded as the winner of
the Large Visitor Attraction of the Year 2008/2009, voted at the recent
Lancashire and Blackpool Tourist Board Awards. Many attractions and
accommodation providers attended the fifth annual Lancashire and
Blackpool Tourism awards, which were hosted by Radio Lancashire’s Ted
Robbins, and a guest appearance by the Hairy Bikers, who cooked up a
storm!
Up against other attractions in the Lancashire and Blackpool region,
Sandcastle Waterpark was marked in areas such as, customer service,
commitment to excellence, training and development, accessibility and
care for the environment to mention a few. Ted Robbins built up the
winning of the award by stating “This attraction has made significant
investment in its facilities and set itself high standards to achieve a
excellent all round performance. It has placed customer service at the
heart of everything it does, and also has made a commitment to staff
training and development.” The awards were supported by the Northwest
Development Agency (NWDA) and the tourism director, James Beresford,
said, “The winners are a reflection of the hard work and commitment that
is helping tourism to thrive in the North West. Quality is the key to
success and these winners are helping to raise the benchmark.”
As part of the acclaimed award, Sandcastle Waterpark will now be put
forward for the North West Region Awards, so keep your fingers crossed,
we could be putting Blackpool attractions back in the top line up.
Sandcastle Waterpark has 18 slides and attractions and an 84o tropical
climate with something to entertain the whole family. John Child,
Managing Director of Sandcastle Waterpark said, “We continue to strive
to be the best at what we do and have some great future developments in
the pipeline so keep your eyes open.” Sandcastle Waterpark is open all

kids - Blackpool's A Knockout Appeal.
In addition, the Sandcastle Waterpark will look back at the history of
the site and will launch a regional appeal for nostalgic stories and
photographs from 1923-1982 when the Open Air Baths were located on site.
An event will take place later in the year to re-create some of the
fondly remembered 'Bathing Beauties' and 'Knobbly Knees' competitions.
